To shoot model theatrical works used to be a mission overwhelmed by its own political significance, rather than by its photographic significance. Four decades later, leafing through the several hundred stills taken of the model theatrical works by Zhang Yaxin, we could not help feeling amazed at the photographer's professionalcapacity to capture the images. Featuring gentle lighting, neat images, and a full range of colors these pictures are full of characteristics such as "loftiness, grandeur, perfection, redness, brilliance and shine."
